The Role:

Events Manager will strategically develop and implement a range of events to raise the Center's profile and engage donors and other key stakeholders.  The Senior Manager will be responsible for conceiving an event marketing strategy that is integrated with the Center's overall development, communications, and marketing goals; enhancing existing signature events; and conceive and develop new events to achieve organizational and fundraising objectives.  This is an integrated position that will bridge the event strategies for the Development and Communications teams, the Office of the President, and the broader organization.

The ideal candidate will be dynamic, nimble, creative, highly organized and inspired and motivated by the Center's mission.  The Senior Manager will identify appropriate opportunities for the Center's spokespeople, have deep experience building and managing strong relationships with various stakeholders, and will actively identify event marketing and promotion opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver world class event programs that drive successful results against strategic objectives, and organizational and fundraising goals
  • Develop integrated strategies for each event type from initial planning to on-site event management and post-event follow up, including schedules, timelines, key milestones and deliverables
  • Bring together cross-functional teams to deliver all event-related tasks under tight deadlines, including: content development, event offers and promotions, email campaigns and landing pages, and sales outreach and engagement
  • Oversee annual New York gala, San Francisco benefit and other fundraising and donor cultivation event logistics and operations, including timeline development, vendor outreach, revenue and budget tracking, event invitation and production materials and data management
  • Working with the Office of the President, Board and Leadership Councils, oversee cross cutting cultivation and fundraising events that include volunteers, Board members, major donors and other stakeholders.
  • Working with the Senior Director of Major Gifts and the frontline fundraising staff and consultants, create a program of fundraising, cultivation, and engagement events that engage major donors and prospects and promote the work of the Center.
  • Oversee the coordination of the logistics for non-fundraising signature Center events, including the development of event communications and materials, and coordination with internal and external partners, and oversee event support staff.
  • Working in close collaboration with communications and program staff, conceive and produce small- and large-scale events for current and potential supporters globally, occasionally with partners and at existing conferences and other institutions
  • Develop relationships with key partners in the conference and events industry relevant to the Center's mission.
  • Oversee the preparation and monitoring of the events budget in collaboration with Finance and Development Operations team to ensure accurate expense and gift processing for events.
  • Oversee event data analysis to evaluate strategies and stakeholder engagement.
  • Evaluate event performance, including lead and ROI tracking and deliver wrap-up reports that demonstrate how events are meeting business goals.
  • Manage event calendar and identify future opportunities and potential partners
  • Work with Marketing Director, Media and Digital teams to promote events
  • Manage support staff working on events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum 7 years' experience working in special events
  • A proven track record of leading strategy and executing a successful events program, preferably for an advocacy organization
  • Exceptional program, project, and time management skills; highly organized, detail focused, results-driven, ability to handle stress and last-minute, urgent requests
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to take full ownership of event experience and production, including flawless onsite execution of the events, registration, housing, infrastructure, production coordination, budgets, and vendor management
  • Ability to collaboratively design a series of events to showcase the work and mission of the Center
  • Extensive experience producing small- and large-scale events as well as working as an effective partner; experience working in a fast-paced environment and executing multiple events with competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, and a calm, diplomatic demeanor even in times of intense pressure
  • Superior writing and editing skills with ability to produce top-quality work in a short period of time
  • Analytical thinker, detail-oriented, team player who takes initiative and has the ability to work independently
  • Ability to see how events are holistically integrated with media, social media, marketing, and fundraising to optimize attendee experience and as a vehicle to raise organizational visibility
  • Strong understanding of audio-visual needs for events
  • Principled, ethical, professional and committed to exceptional work quality and standards
  • Experience with volunteer management an advantage
  • Live event experience a plus
  • Strong commitment to the Center's mission, purpose, and values
  • Strong sales and customer service skills and demonstrated experience in event ROI reporting; hands-on experience with CRM and marketing automation platforms
  • A resourceful, self-driven work ethic, with initiative and a can-do attitude.
  • Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours; ability to travel within and outside the U.S. as needed
  • Spanish language fluency is a plus.
