The Role:

The Center for Reproductive Rights is seeking to sponsor applicants for an externally funded fellowship for 2019-20, to work within U.S. Programs as a member of the U.S. Human Rights team. This team collaboratively integrates U.S. human rights strategies to advance the full spectrum of reproductive rights in the United States, including equal access to safe and respectful maternal healthcare and assisted reproductive technologies. Candidates must identify the externally funded fellowship opportunity on their own before contacting the Center. The Center is unable to provide the connection to externally funded opportunities

This position will be based in New York City.

The U.S. Human Rights fellow will be a member of the Center's U.S. human rights team and will work in collaboration with the Center's U.S. Policy and Advocacy, Litigation, Judicial Strategies, and Pro Bono teams.


  • Conducting in-depth legal and legislative research and analysis;
  • Researching and drafting submissions to international and regional human rights mechanisms;
  • Developing and drafting policy and advocacy materials, including fact sheets and talking points; and
  • Engaging in international and domestic advocacy on the full range of U.S. reproductive rights issues, included related to maternal health and assisted reproductive technologies.


  • J.D. degree is required upon start date
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Knowledge of reproductive rights and reproductive justice issues;
  • Or knowledge of issue relating to human rights, civil rights, or racial and social justice
