Equal Justice Works Sponsored Legal Fellowship (Fall 2018)

Priority Application Deadline to CRR: August 25, 2017 (on a rolling basis thereafter)

Summary Description:

The Center for Reproductive Rights seeks applicants to sponsor for an Equal Justice Works Fellowship to start in the fall 2018 within the US Programs team.  The Center in the past has sponsored or hosted fellowship candidates in developing litigation or litigation resources, working with coalitions on advocacy campaigns, researching and writing policy briefs, conducting trainings and/or providing technical assistance. We will review any project proposal relating to reproductive rights and human rights in the context of our US work, though for 2018 we are particularly interested in projects addressing the following US issues: Maternal Health and Contraception.

Ideal candidates will be law students entering their third year (3L) or recent graduates who expect to complete a judicial clerkship by fall 2018. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to public interest law and reproductive and human rights and a willingness to collaborate extensively with the Center to shape the project proposal in September 2017 (due Sept 27 to EJW).

Application Process:

If you would like to be considered for sponsorship, please send an application including resume, writing sample, cover letter and a brief 1-page (max) description of a project proposal. Please include in your cover letter whether you only seek sponsorship for your proposed project or if you would be open to input from the Center regarding your project. Priority consideration will be given to those who submit applications by August 25, 2017.

The two-year fellowship, if awarded, will begin in the fall of 2018 in our NY or DC office.

Interviews will be hosted in late August 2017 and a finalist will work with the Center to submit a joint proposal for sponsorship by late September 2017.
